I recommend this to any person seriously into bible studying or student.

Finally found a Catholic "Total" Bible Commentary...been looking for one for years until this one was finally suggested to me. I owe that person a debt of gratitude if I can ever trace back to where this advice was given to me. Wish it were available in e format but it is about the size of my printed dictionary, larger than my NAB Catholic Study Bible when stuffing it into a bag it seems but not that much larger and thicker but it is somewhat...
I recommend this to any person seriously into bible studying or student.

Excellent commentary but get the hardcover edition

I originally purchased the paperback version because it's listed as a later edition (3rd edition). After receiving it I checked the title page and it didn't indicate 3rd edition anywhere. I ordered the hardcover to double-check and send one back. They are identical (except the hardcover is over $50 less and a much nicer book). This is clearly an issue with the publisher because Pearson not only lists the hardcover as 1st edition but they also list the hardcover as 890 pages (Amazon actually lists the correct number of pages). The publisher lists the softcover as a 3rd edition with a 1999 copyright, but this is definitely not the case (title page copyright on both is 1990 -- no edition listed). I was initially slightly concerned because the hardcover shipped in the original publishers box that clearly has 1ST EDITION stamped on the outside of the sealed box. These aren't even different printings. I spot checked around a dozen pages from front to back and the word order on the pages and the number of pages are identical. The first intro page actually lists the same ISBN for both, but the main title page does list different ISBNs. Looking at the sequence of numbers that sometimes indicate the number of printings, the hardcover actually has a higher sequence (it's exactly doubled so I suspect this is something else other than printings).

Bottom line...excellent commentary and if you want to save over $50 and have a nicer book, get the hardcover.

The New Jerome Biblical Commentary.

So far, I find this Biblical Commentary very helpful with the Course I'm studying. It is a wonderful reference book but not one you begin on the first page and read through! It's scholarly and is laid out very satisfactorily.

Still one of the best Pre-marital books around.

Nearly thirty years after publication, few books come close to capturing the essence of Christian marriage better than PREPARING FOR YOUR MARRIAGE by William McRae. Knowing that preparation is a key element in a successful marriage, this book is one of the best anywhere at preparing a couple for marriage. The twenty six chapters are broken into four parts; The Criteria for Marriage, The Christian Marriage, Before Your Marriage and Your Wedding and After.

McRae teaches marriage strictly from a theological standpoint. If a couple is devoted to building a Christian, God focused marriage, McRae teaches this aspect better than anyone, in my opinion.

This is not really what I would call a workbook, but it is set up in semi-workbook fashion with exercises at the end of each chapter. Titled as "project pages" some of which go into very good detail and instruction.

Written at the height of the women's movement, there is great detail given to the role of the wife and what it truly means to be "submissive", which is hardly what most of the more radical persuasion believe it means. Don't get me wrong, there is also plenty of time spent examining the "headship" of the husband, which is also grossly misunderstood in today's society.

There are also 4 appendixes that are useful for anyone still planning their wedding. These cover vows, ring vows, a unity candle ceremony and reaffirming family ties. Of the shelves of books I have on marriage, this is one I still turn to over and over.

A Useful Pre-Marital Counseling Tool

As a pastor I have used this in premarital counseling for over 25 years. In fact, this material in unpublihed form was used when my wife (of 31 years) and I went through premarital counseling as an engaged couple.

For many years the author was a teaching pastor for Believer's Chapel in Dallas Texas. The material is sound biblically and combines both instruction and a workbook.

the Jowett translations may be free, but...

...these ones are accurate. Stonemason or not, Socrates by no means speak like an educated Victorian. And if you must read only 8 of his many classic works, this is good enough a selection.

In Depth Indeed!!!

No one will ever complain about the lack of depth of this book! It is huge, weighs a ton. You'll never read or absorb it all in one setting. However, just in randoming flipping through the pages, I found two useful items - keeping RAM space at a minimum (slows down or locks up computer if too much RAM is being used) and downloading music CDs, which I do a lot of.

Can you find this info on line? Sure. You can google it. Or you can use the help feature in the drop down menu. But an older person like me wants a book in front of me so I can read the information & not worry about finding the best web page for a problem.

As you would expect, there are ample illustrations to help you visualize the text. Hundreds of drop down menus, dialog boxes and the like help you to understand what each choice/selection/radio button does. Even if you're new to computers, the authors walk you through the information step by step.

The only thing I do not like about this book is the weight. But then again, if it did not have as much info, it would not be "In Depth". I'm willing to bet that whatever time you spend reading this will be saved with fewer calls to IT or searching on line. Since I am not a computer expert and am new to Windows 10, I anticipate referring to this and learning a lot - I already have!

Definitely all I needed to understand Windows 10!

This book covers the information that most users of Windows 10 are going to need. It is probably of most use to those with beginning to intermediate understanding of the older Windows operating systems. Professional systems and network administrators would benefit from it to help shorten their familiarization time, but they are probably going to need some more advanced information that this book sets out to provide.

As would be expected, it starts with the installation or upgrading to Win 10 and proceeds from there to cover a lot of information that most users will only occasionally need. Between the detailed table of contents and the index, you should be able to find just about anything you need.

The most helpful chapters to me were Chapter 3 "Your first hour with Windows 10" and Chapter 4 "Using the Windows 10 Interface". My computer came pre-installed with Windows 10, so what I primarily needed was an explanation of the new features and changes from previous versions. Chapter 3 did a great job of giving me the familiarity I needed. I had already figured out a lot about it by simply applying what I already know about previous versions of Windows. I got it set up and connected to a wireless network and the Internet and installed a couple of printers and a couple of programs before I got the book, but even then, the book helped me to fill in some gaps.

An interesting addition to Win 10 is the new Edge web browser. Internet Explorer is still around, but apparently Microsoft want to phase it out and is pushing users toward the new edge architecture. Unfortunately Edge is not as powerful as Windows Explorer, so most users are probably going to stick with it for now.

The book even has sections on running other operating systems as virtual machines and on using the Remote Desktop feature to control other computers from your Windows 10 machine or vice-versa. I am using the information on Virtualization to set up the old XP system that this computer replaced as a virtual machine running within Windows 10. This way, all the old programs and data from the old machine will still be available.

One very nice thing about this book is that the author doesn't fierce you to still with Windows solutions and software. Instead he recommends third party software and utilities that will helpful to the user.

All in all, this book was expertly what I needed to help me get the most out of my new Windows 10 machine.

Good book for novices and professionals alike. Provides plenty of information on the new Windows 10 software including tips and tricks to make Windows 10 run better by turn on certain features and shutting off other features you don't use or need. Explains registration editing, script features plus other sections that deals with security, WiFi setup and setting up a personal network. All info shown can apply to settings up Windows PC's, tablets and phone running the older Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or the new Windows 10.

All you need to know about early Georgian English Interiors

As a classically trained english architect I find myself in a unique position to authoritively review this book. And what a book. That perfect blend of photos (most of them colour), drawings - both plans and renderings, and an informative text. This is a must for anyone interested in early Georgian Interiors, as it comprehensively covers interior architecture, decoration, furniture/artwork, and the general design aesthetic of this era. If only we still had the artisians and cratspeople to still build like this. It is an inspiration to any aspiring classical architect.

Very short start left me a little detached hoping for more in the next one

This book was hard to feel connected to yet I was interested to find out where it was headed.

I will definitely give the next book a try and hope to care more about the characters.

Slight spoiler warning.......I didn't care for the end sex scene with the other woman. I always like books better when they quickly skim over that part.

I for one do not want to read several pages of in depth details of the H having sex when it's not the h. A quick paragraph or two so we get the picture is my personal preference. This book was short for pages taken up with this and that it ended that way left a bad taste but here is hoping for better.

Este es el segundo libro de esta serie. .. estaba muy intrigada por el personaje de Rashir muchas veces crean un personaje secundario espectacular y en el libro donde son protagonistas pierden intensidad .
Gracias a dios este no es el caso ... todo lo contrario m�s humano , varonil INTENSO uffff hermoso este personaje su concubina. .. no se queda atr�s refrescante ... sumisa y fiera una combinaci�n perfecta que me hizo quererla .
En fin que se puede decir de kelly simplemente una escritora con la que siempre voy a la segura para sumegirme en una apasionante historia rom�ntica.

Me encant� la historia de rashid y shere es incre�ble y la recomiendo a todos los lectores hay amigas quien no se enamora de un rashid as� jajajaja o Dante Dios me hubiese gustado saber un poquito m�s de maya y cleo que pas� en su nueva vida y de Aj� el se merece ser feliz aunque no pueda olvidar a su esposa y hijo ojal� y Kelly dream nos deleite con una tercera parte donde se haga la boda de shere y rashid y sepamos un poquito m�s de los personajes secundarios gracias Kelly dream como siempre me impresionan tus libros y los recomiendo a todos los lectores y espero con ansias otros libros suyos

Once regarded as the champion of internationalist culture, in recent years T. S. Eliot has been reclassified as a racist, a misogynist, and a fascist. His life has been the subject of numerous critical studies and even one mainstream film, Tom and Viv, which dissected the intimate details of Eliot's marriage to Vivien Haigh-Wood. With the publication of Inventions of the March Hare, admirers and critics of Eliot will gain new insight into the poet as a young man. The 40 poems contained in this volume were all written between the years 1909 and 1917, a period during which Eliot graduated from Harvard, spent a year in France, studied Buddhism and Sanskrit at Cambridge University, met Ezra pound, and married Vivien.

These poems reveal a great deal about T. S. Eliot, the man and the poet. His borrowings from other poets are often apparent (an older Eliot once declared: "immature poets imitate; mature poets steal"), as are the repressed scatological, sexual, and neurotic impulses that would have been offensive or shocking to readers of his time. The annotations by editor Christopher Ricks add to our understanding of the poems themselves and what they expose about their author's complicated psyche.

Though available in manuscript to scholars since 1968, this is the first appearance?for all but five poems?of Eliot's "lost" notebook of drafts and fragments. Eliot never intended this unfinished work to see publication, but in page after page his autumnal sensibility, his signature aura of languid urban malaise?however tentative?surfaces unmistakably: "We hibernate among the bricks/ And live across the window panes/ With marmalade and tea at six/ Indifferent to what the wind does." The Quintessential Collection of Lonely Verse

Eliot is known to undergrads and postgrads as the genius poet of "Four Quartets" and "The Wasteland;" a man who wrote some of the greatest and most confusing verse of the twentieth century. While the rewards of exploration into such poems are certainly great, it is perhaps a more human need for emotional comfort. The above, professional reviews focus on the small section of bawdry verse in the work, but the majority of this collection is devoted to the great, early emotional works of Eliot. The only familiar poem to most readers will probably be "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" (with a previously unpublished extension) and a more perfect banner work could not have been chosen. The poems are beautiful, concise, imagistic, painful, somber, but most of all lonely. Here in his early years Eliot is not living in an academic world, simply the world--with love, hypocrisy, doubt, joy, and emptiness. To read the greatest poet of our centu! ry describe that which is greatly profound is a privilege, here to read him describe what is simply profound is a gift. I recommend this book over all other collections of Eliot's or anyone else's verse. If you were not one of the 11th graders who discarded Prufrock as a helpless reject, and instead saw him as a deeply lonely individual much like ourselves, this volume is for you. It will touch your life and make you just that much more complete.

It's not Eliot's best work of course, but that's not why I bought it. I ordered this collection to better understand Eliot before he became Eliot. I found a few books of his very early poetry in my local university's library, but nothing for the years between childhood and Prufrock. I think I've gained a little more insight into one of my favorite modern poets.

I absolutely love this book. I've always been a fan of T. S. Eliot, so I was very happy with "Inventions of the March Hare". It contains all of the famed Prufrock poems, as well as other well-known and previously unpublished poetry. There are also explanatory notes after the poems, and it even includes letters written by Eliot. I highly recommend "Inventions" for any Eliot, or poetry, fan.
