LOVE this study!!

When someone recommended this book/study to me, I was looking for hope and wisdom in dealing with my three children, ages 4, 3 and 1. This study has been an answer to prayer. The material is very thorough and gave practical suggestions for establishing order, authority, discipline and so much more in the lives of children. Best of all, it is very biblically based, so this is not just based on human wisdom, but on the Word of God. The insight into the use of spanking was very helpful and, again, based on biblical wisdom, not worldly wisdom. In addition, Ms. Corning goes into detail as to what spanking is not (i.e. differentiating between proper use of spanking and improper, anger based punishment). I had read so many other discipline and parenting books - especially looking for insight into dealing with a very strong-willed child who seems to push things to the limit at every possible moment. This book gave me insight into that child and how to discipline appropriately, how not to exasperate my children, and so much more. I will warn you that this book is a huge commitment when reading. When I received the book, it reminded me of an NLT Study Bible in size. There are so many Scripture references and so much helpful information that this will take time to get through. But set goals - the DVD series that is based on this book is a 22 week series, so give yourself time (which we parents have so much of, right? but it is worth it, so put this before less important things for a little while and see the benefits). For those of you with strong-willed children where "nothing is working", I can only say that God is using this book to show me things I can be doing differently, and this is the first time that I can honestly say that something is working for more than 2-3 days. It is worth the investment. I pray that you will be blessed as you seek to train up your child in the way he/she should go - God's way.

A Must Read for Christian parents

Entrusted is one of the rare finds in regard to must read parenting books! This book is comprehensive study of what a biblical family should base their foundation on and what some of the outworks of that look like.
This book is packed full of practical things to help grow your marriage and family. I appreciate the disciple chapters and chapter on manipulation.
My husband and I are going through one chapter a week, discussing what we need to implement in our family. We feel like it's refining some of our convictions and parenting style.

A fantastic resource

Our church did the DVD series two years ago and it was an amazing help. The lessons are scripture-packed, practical, and timely. It gave me a framework for parenting early on when my children were 2 and 5 months and I was wondering what in the world I was doing. I've just gone through the series again now that my children are 4 and 2, and it's just as helpful-if not more so. I ditto the previous reviewer about the chapter on manipulation-so easily ensnared by our children's behavior! I can't speak to the new book-I understand from the website that it is expanded in content to include marriage and family life-but I would wholeheartedly recommend it to any parent out there.
